— St. Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St. (next to the Prescription Pad), offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. St. Athanasius distributes this bread, generously supplied by Panera, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— Justin DeCecca will speak at Nicholasville Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. DeCecca recently returned from a tour of Israel’s security facilities and he will speak about his experiences. He directs the department of criminal justice at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg.
MONDAY
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. — The Jessamine County Historical Society will host its Christmas open house Dec. 2 from 5-9 p.m. At 7 p.m., the guest speaker will be Susan Hughes from Shaker Village Pleasant Hill. Her topic will be 50 years of preserving Shaker Village. The society is located at 216 N. Main St.
— The Jessamine Christian Church will host a holiday market place gift fair on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The church is located at 101 Providence Way in Brannon Crossing.
— Arts on Main will return for fall and winter monthly events at Clark Chapel on Main Street in Wilmore. These events are a collaboration of the Wilmore Community Development Board and the Clark Chapel Restoration Committee. All events are free and open to the public. Each event is followed with a meet-and-greet opportunity and refreshments. On Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m., Christmas at Clark Chapel will feature music and readings.
