Edward Lee Wright, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the St. Joseph Hospital Hospice unit, Lexington.
A long-time resident of Clark County, he was preceded in death by his wife, the late Betty Ruth Young Wright.
He was the son of the late Alfred Greenville and Florence Abner Wright. Mr. Wright served his country proudly as a Marine in the Pacific during World War II, and later as he joined the Kentucky State Police, retiring as a lieutenant in 1980.
He is survived by his two daughters, Libby McAllister of North Carolina and Vicki Stickrod of Florida; his sisters, Anna Hollon of Kentucky and Elizabeth Elswick of Oklahoma; and brothers, Raymond of Ohio and Fred Wright of Florida.
He was a wonderful grandfather to his granddaughters Tamy Salkeld of North Carolina, Julie Dailey of Kentucky and Beth Bosley of Georgia; and to seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his sisters, Delena Wright Jones and Bettie Lorine Wright; and brother, Kenneth Wright.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Scobee Funeral Home by Dr. Ed Mesta.
Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemtery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
