Katherine Canter Sponcil Clark, 87, passed away Monday, Nov. 21. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Mattie Canter and was retired from Austin Nichols Distillery. She is survived by her two children, Charles and wife Gloria Sponcil and Sankey and husband Robert Johns; a son-in-law, Dale Cuzick; her stepchildren, Ray Clark Jr. and wife Sue, and Caroline Thompson and husband Joe; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother; and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her children’s father, Charles Ray Sponcil; her late husband, Ray Clark Sr.; her daughter, Yvonne Carol Sponcil Cuzick; five brothers; and two sisters. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Renee Bell and her grandson, Jayme Johns, for their love, care and devotion during her last few months with us. We would also like to recognize her two great-granddaughters, Morgann and Ali, for their constant and selfless love and support throughout her last few months. Bearers were Victor, Greg and Mark Murphy, Darrell and Daron Willis, John Collier, George “Butch” Canter, Todd Sponcil and Jayme Johns.

Honorary bearers were Frank and Ann Corman, Clellie and Helen Burch, Kevin Corman, Renee and Jeff Bell, Linda Ruth East, and Dean and Sam Bostic. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
