East Jessamine football player Blake Hinkle has been honored with the “Enlightened Warrior” award from Xenith.
Xenith is a producer of football and baseball helmets with a focus on reducing the risks of concussions as a result of repeated hits.
Hinkle, a junior, was the Jaguars’ second-leading rusher this season with 679 yards on 144 attempts. He scored three touchdowns, including a go-ahead score to give East a 15-10 win over Bullitt Central in September.
The Jaguars posted a 6-7 record this season.
Xenith will donate three helmets to the East Jessamine football program in Hinkle’s name. Xenith helmets can cost anywhere from $219-$329.
