Shavon Majors posted her third consecutive double-double to lead the Burgin girls to a 64-32 romp over East Jessamine in their 46th District opener Thursday night at Burgin.
Majors had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Burgin (3-1, 1-0 district), and she was also 7 for 7 from the free-throw line.
Taylor Sanders added 13 points for the Bulldogs.
Heather Welch and Madison Collins led East Jessamine (1-3, 0-1) with 11 points each.
Boys
California School for the Deaf-Riverside 62, Kentucky School for the Deaf 11 — At Riverside, Calif., KSD (2-5) had just three field goals as it lost in the first game played by any of the school’s teams in California.
The Colonels played the first of three scheduled games in CSDR’s Triple “S” Tournament only hours after their flight to the West Coast, tipping off at 11:15 p.m. EST. They shot 12 percent from the field and committed 28 turnovers, and they managed only two points in the second half.
Michael Miller had eight points, four rebounds and two steals for KSD, and Valdin Kudic had six rebounds.
CSDR is coached by David Hamilton, a former KSD star who is No. 2 on the school’s career scoring list.
Anderson County 59, Garrard County 43 — At Lawrenceburg, Anderson (2-0) pulled out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and held off Garrard (2-3) for the rest of the night.
Austin Sebastian scored 14 points and Billy Abney added 11 for the Golden Lions, who trailed by only six points when the fourth quarter began but scored only three in the period.
Lowell Gordon scored a game-high 17 points for the Bearcats.
