Police have identified the victim from a Wednesday homicide and charged a Georgetown man with murder.
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Andrew David Ingram of 210 Whitney Court, was found behind 225 Whitney Court around 1:30 p.m., Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. He had been shot once in the back, and may have been hiding from his pursuers, Hall said. So far, the weapon has not been recovered.
Late Wednesday afternoon, police charged 26-year-old Percy Hargrove III of Georgetown with murder, first-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence, Hall said.
Police had been working the case, which began as a report of shots fired from 210 Whitney Court around 4:30 a.m. At the time, officers and detectives found no evidence of any shots being fired. A brief foot pursuit of one possible suspect around 5 a.m. was unsuccessful, but officers received a tip around 10 a.m. of a suspicious man around Maryland Avenue. Police took the man, later identified as Hargrove, into custody for questioning. Detectives were beginning to interview him Wednesday when the body was discovered, Hall said.
