Casey grand jury indicts 11

LIBERTY — The following people were recently indicted by a Casey County grand jury:

* Jasper Edward McCann, 27, of Waynesburg, burglary, theft of controlled substances and being a persistent felony offender for allegedly breaking into Wesley Drugs on Nov. 27 and taking oxycodone, Opana and other drugs. Bond was set at $20,000. Liberty Sgt. Randy Dial testified before the grand jury.

* David L. Cress, 50 and Steven D. Wilson, 48, both of the Casey County Detention Center, and Timothy Lynn Coppage, 41, of Stanford, theft of more than $10,000 for allegedly taking a truck loaded with 240 farm gates from Scotty Smith on Nov. 18. Cress and Wilson also were charged with criminal mischief for allegedly causing more than $1,000 in damage to the gates. Bonds were set at $15,000 each for Cress and Wilson, and $10,000 for Coppage. Deputy Chad Weddle testified.

* Billy James Bunch, 34, of Waynesburg, and Jason Michael Witt, 34, two counts of receiving stolen property more than $500 for allegedly having a hay rake belonging to Robert Trowbridge and a wagon belonging to Larry McAninch on Nov. 26. Bonds were set at $2,000 each. Weddle testified.

* Tammy Sue Barber, 33, of Somerset, five counts of forgery and being a persistent felony offender for allegedly having five forged checks totaling $3,250 drawn on Jodie and Kathy Wilkinson in September. Bond was set at $2,000. Weddle testified.

* Desiree Thompson, 52, forgery for allegedly having a forged check for $250 drawn on Benny C. Gragg on Sept. 22. Bond was set at $1,000. Weddle testified.

* Ronnie Frank Parton, 35, and Nathan Morgan, 33, both of the Casey County Detention Center, eight counts of forgery persistent felony offender for allegedly having eight forged checks drawn on Tommy Elliott in October. Parton also was charged with being a persistent felony offender. Bond was set at $10,000. Weddle testified.

* Joyce Ann Smith, 48, of Hustonville, theft more than $10,000 for allegedly writing a worthless check for $10,007 to Brown Gate Co. on May 31.
