Centre Basketball: Prewitt, Huter reach milestones for Centre women on Friday

Maggie Prewitt had her first career triple-double and Lauren Huter scored her 1,000th career point Friday night as the Centre College women crushed Southwestern 79-55 for their 11th straight victory.
Prewitt had 14 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists for the host Colonels, who shot 52 percent from the field and were 8 for 13 from 3-point range.
Huter scored a team-high 16 points and became the 14th Centre woman to reach the 1,000-point mark. The layup with which she reached the milestone gave the Colonels their largest lead at 65-39 with 10 minutes, 41 seconds remaining.
Men
Centre 64, Southwestern 49 — Centre allowed the lowest point total by an opponent this season in beating last place Southwestern (1-15, 1-6).
Jeff Mullaney led Centre with 19 points, and Greg Ross had his fourth double-double of the year with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
The Colonels pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Pirates 36-24. They committed a season-high 19 turnovers but made 21 of 27 free throws.
