Our pets of the week are Mark and Cheri. Mark is a 7-month-old black and white cat. He has cute markings with a black spot on his nose and a black chin. Mark was brought to the shelter because his owner had "too many cats.” Mark is a very friendly boy, and he will make a great companion. We were told that Mark was born on the Fourth of July, 2011, and he's ready to be your buddy.
Cheri is a very sweet, brown and black, 16-week- old hound mix pup. She has long, floppy ears and big brown eyes. With some much attention, training and lots of love, Cheri will flourish in her new home.
In 2011, the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society had the highest adoption rate in our history. Homes were found for 416 cats and 737 dogs for a total of 1,156 animals placed.
We say thank you to everyone who found their special pet at the adoption center of the DBCHS last year.
We also want to give a big “thank you” to our volunteers and donors, who make our work to help the homeless animals of Boyle County possible.
Keep up with the latest news about the DBCHS by visiting our website www.homes4pets.org. You can see the dogs and cats that are up for adoption both at the humane society and in the Mutts With Manners program. You will find tips on caring for your pet or training your new puppy, or suggestions that will help get your lost pet home again. The humane society welcomes donations of Purina puppy chow and Purina Cat Food And Kitten Chow along with bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and hand soap. We always need used towels and blankets. Your donations to the shelter are greatly appreciated.
