Devin Conley scored 16 points to lead the Garrard County girls to a 45-42 victory over Southwestern on Friday night at Somerset.
Garrard (16-8) snapped a two-game losing streak despite being held to a total of 14 points in the second and third quarters.
The Golden Lions held Southwestern (16-6) to 25 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded the Warriors 37-20.
“I thought our girls played really well tonight. We had lots of intensity, we rebounded the ball well,” Garrard coach Scott Bolin said. “It was a good bounce-back win for us against a really good Southwestern team.”
Southwestern was tied for the second-most wins in the 12th Region, and now Garrard is tied with Southwestern and Lincoln County, two wins behind Mercer County.
Conley went 5 for 7 from the field and 4 for 4 at the free throw line for the Lions.
Kelly Smith added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and had a team-high 10 rebounds.
Garrard also got nine rebounds from Victoria Floyd, seven from Ryan Cain and six from Devin Napier.
Samantha Fitzgerald had 14 points for Southwestern.
