Three Danville wrestlers won individual titles and the Admirals finished second in the team standings Saturday in the Perry County Central Invitational at Hazard.
Rhodes Bell (170 pounds), Daniel Lannum (126) and Zach Phillips (113) took first in their respective weight classes in the seven-team tournament.
Bell won two matches by pin before beating Zach Rolland of Montgomery County 11-0 in the finals. Lannum edged Montgomery’s Clyde Newcomer 3-2 in his final to win a four-man class, and Phillips pinned Perry’s Kevin Hurt in 52 seconds in a match between the only two wrestlers in their class.
Carson Coulter (138), who returned from an injury, Mike Kuchenbrod (106), Blake Bowman (132) and Russell Meurer (182) were second in their classes, and Elliott Porter (285) was third.
“It wasn’t a real big tournament ... but everybody got to wrestle a little bit to get ready for regionals next Saturday,” Danville coach Jeff Selby said.
The Admirals were second to host Perry in the seven-team tourney.
Danville will host the 2nd Region championships next Saturday.
