Cardiovascular screening offered

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center will offer free cardiovascular risk health screenings for adults ages 18 and older 8-10 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Boyle County Extension Service office, 99 Corporate Drive. Cost to attend the program is $15 and includes lunch, refreshments, information packet and speakers, including a former contestant on the Biggest Loser.

Call the extension office at (859) 236-4484 for more information and to schedule a screening. Participants must fast for at least 12 hours prior to their screenings. Registration is due by noon Friday.

Eqypt event upcoming at Boyle library

The special event “Egypt Spring 2011: Religion and Revolution” will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Boyle County Public Library in the community room. The free event is sponsored by Friends of the Boyle County Public Library.

The slideshow will present the picturesque along with turmoil witnessed by Jane Brantley while she was traveling in Egypt. Brantley is a retired language pathologist.

Auction to benefit Danville band

A benefit auction for the Danville Marching Admirals will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Rita Mae’s Auction House on Stewarts Lane. To donate items, call Beth Perros at (859) 583-3694 or Bill James at (859) 583-4091 and specify that items are designated for the band; pickup is available. Call (859) 238-4700 for pickup.

Crab Orchard water advisory lifted

CRAB ORCHARD — Crab Orchard Water Department lifted its boil-water advisory as of 8 a.m. Monday. The advisory was due to a recent water line break that had the potential to allow contamination to enter the water system. All sample testing came back clean of contaminants.

Casey County Hospital District Board of Trustees — 7 p.m. tonight in the board room in the administration building.
