Ethel Lyons Brim, 93, widow of Johnny Brim, died Tuesday, Feb. 7. She was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Mercer County to the late James Mearitt and Ida Middleton Lyons. She was a homemaker whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. Survivors are her children, Betty and husband Charles A. Leonard of Lexington, and Ann and husband McKinley Thompson of Nicholasville; grandchildren, Gloria and husband Breck Johnson, Roger Fathergill, Tina Placek, Tammy and husband Thad Scott, Lisa Woods, McKinley and wife Anita Thompson Jr., Debbie Carroll, Tonya and husband Christian Chavez, Timmy, Johnny and Jeff Tuggle, and Angie and husband Jackie Smith; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and other family members. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Tuggle. Services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Wittenberg officiating.
Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Bearers were Thad Scott, McKinley Thompson Jr., Roger Fathergill, Breck Johnson, Cory Placek, Tim Tuggle and Caity Placek. Honorary bearers were McKinley Thompson and Charles Leonard.
