Danville school system 2012-13 calendar set

The biggest difference between Danville’s current academic calendar and next year’s is that Danville students start school five days later in the 2012-13 year, said Chuck Stallard, director of pupil personnel.

“The calendar for 2012-13 is basically a mirror of the 2011-12 calendar,” Stallard said. “We decided to start school a bit later because the previous Aug. 10 start date was still rather early.”

Students start 2012-13 classes on Aug. 15 and staff members report to work two days prior. The scheduled last day of school is May 22 for students and May 23 for staff.

Fall break is Oct. 8-12; Thanksgiving break is Nov. 21-23; winter break is Dec. 20-Jan. 2; and spring break is April 1-5. Students also will not attend classes on Labor Day, Election Day, Martin Luther King Day, Sept. 28, Feb. 18, March 15 and May 21.

The end of grading periods are Oct. 23, Jan. 11, March 18 and May 22, with report cards following within a week thereafter. Each school sets its own report card issuance date, Stallard said.
