The Belmont Junior High School Patriots advanced to the semifinals of the Bluegrass Middle School Conference tournament with a 34-30 win over Clark-Moores Friday. Belmont had received a first round bye in the tourney.

Firefighters battled a blaze at 2 Kentucky St. Saturday morning. Damage occurred to the second floor of the house, which is owned by David Cantrell of Two Mile Road. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
