Nicholasville police raided Sew Chic, a business located at 922 S. Main St., late Tuesday afternoon and confiscated 16 slot machines.
The raid occurred around 4 p.m. when officers went into the business and began to carry out the machines and load them onto a flatbed trailer.
“Nicholasville police executed a search warrant here at this address in reference to a detailed investigation over the last couple months in regard to illegal gambling,” officer Kevin Grimes said. “We had 16 slot machines that were found inside the business on the back side of Sew Chic. Sew Chic is the front part of the business.”
Grimes said police had been investigating the slots operation for at least two months before making the raid.
“As far as we know, this one had been operating for at least two months, maybe even longer, but it was just brought to our attention two months ago,” he said. “We used several different techniques; we used surveillance; we did send officers inside to see if the machines were, in fact, paying money. We used a combination of different things involved in this case.”
