Prep Baseball: Boyle wins Wynn's debut

Danville rallies past South Laurel

Boyle County gave first-year coach Kyle Wynn a win in his first game, beating Anderson County 8-3 on Tuesday at Lawrenceburg.
Billy Joe Bryington went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead Boyle (1-0), which had 12 hits and took advantage of four errors by Anderson (1-1).
Jacob Preston, Casey Whittle and Brett Jones had two hits each and Jones drove in two runs for the Rebels, who broke open a close game by scoring three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
“I am very pleased with our effort and the way we treated the game tonight. We did the things I've been emphasizing since day one. Now we have to be consistent,” Wynn said. “Pitching and defense keeps you in games, and timely hitting wins games. We were fortunate to do that tonight. Jacob Preston had a big-time effort on the mound and we fed off of that.”
Preston pitched five innings for the win, allowing two runs on five hits. Addison Coffey allowed one run on one hit in two innings for the Rebels, walking three but striking out four.
Danville 8, South Laurel 7 — At Danville, No. 14 Danville (4-0) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past South Laurel (4-1).
Mason Stamm’s sacrifice bunt resulted in an error that allowed Dowell Harmon to score the winning run for the Admirals after Andrew Lasure had tied the game with a three-run home run.
Lasure’s homer, his third of the season, followed walks to Rob Caudill and Rhodes Bell. Cole Phillips singled to move Harmon to second after he walked for the third time.
Phillips and Bell had two hits each, and the Admirals had nine in all.
Lasure pitched five innings, allowing three runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Winning pitcher Tyler Beldon allowed two earned runs and two unearned runs on four hits in two innings, walking three but striking out six.
