Prep Softball: Lady Cards fall to West Jessamine in 8 innings

The George Rogers Clark softball team opened its season Tuesday with a 5-4 loss in eight innings to West Jessamine in Nicholasville. Clark pitcher Jessica Neal threw a pitch to the plate in the season opener. The Lady Cards managed eight hits off the Lady Colts, led by Sydney Anderson with a pair of singles and a triple. Kolbi Mitchell connected on a pair of singles and drove in two runs, while Erin Carrus drove in a run with a single and Carrie Irvin laced a double to pace Clark. The Lady Cards are scheduled to have their first home game at 7 p.m. Thursday against Dublin Ohio at Cardinal Heights.¿Clark competes in the Mayfield Ice Creamier Lady Eagle Classic Friday-Saturday at Johnson Central High School in Paintsville.
