Curtis E. “Gene” Hudson, 51, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. 

Born Feb. 20, 1961, in Versailles, he was a son of Jeanette Willoughby Hudson and the late Carl Edward Hudson, and was the husband of 20 years to Brenda Clarkson Hudson. Gene was a truck driver, loved cats and caring for stray animals, was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, enjoyed watching and feeding birds, enjoyed old country music, especially George Jones, and loved talking on his cell phone to his friends and family.   

In addition to his wife and mother, Gene is survived by a son, Carl (Maren) Hudson of Berea; two brothers, Donald (Phyllis) Hudson of Midway and Ronald (Debbie) Hudson of Nicholasville; three sisters, Margaret (Alfred) Dunn of Lawrenceburg, Janice (Dennis) Hagan of Lexington and Lisa (Dwayne) Thompson of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Chaplain Dale Denton officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Carl, Donald, Ronald, Derrick and Brandon Hudson, Dennis Hagan, Alfred Dunn and Dwayne Thompson. Honorary bearer will be Randy Richardson. 

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
