Miller: “Yeah, I loved Kentucky. Even now to this day I say that was my best visit. They got coach (John) Calipari, probably the best coach. Best freshmen. Anthony Davis is my friend. Mike (Kidd-) Gilchrist is my friend. There’s not really too many bad things you can say about Lexington and Kentucky.”
Question: What made you sign with Baylor then instead of Kentucky?
Miller: “I think it was mainly the team we have right now. Once I came on my visit here I was clicking with the team and wanted to play with these guys.”
Question: Has it surprised you that Kentucky has been so good this year since you know many of the players?
Miller: “No surprise here. I thought they would be great.”
Question: Did you anticipate Davis being so good that he would be the leading contender for national player of the year?
Miller: “I knew he had that kind of potential. I saw him in high school and knew what he could do. It’s not a surprise to me.”
Question: What makes you say Calipari is the best?
Miller: “Coach Calipari lets his players play their game. He lets them play free and doesn’t really hold them back from doing too much stuff. That’s what attracted me the most.”
Question: If both Kentucky and Baylor win to advance to Sunday’s South Regional finals, aren’t there a lot of similarities between the two teams?
Miller: “If you are on the outside looking in, you would say we are basically the same team. Matchups, Anthony Davis and Perry (Jones). Me and Gilchrist. Terrence Jones and (Quincy) Acy. Marquis Teague and Pierre Jackson. Doron Lamb and Brady (Heslip). Definitely a great matchup.”
Question: Has it been hard not to look ahead to a possible matchup with No. 1 Kentucky as you prepare to play Xavier?
Miller: “No. We are not looking ahead. If it happens, it happens. But you have to take every opponent seriously.”
Question: But do you feel like Baylor’s talent is equal to any team left playing, including Kentucky?
Miller: “Right now we are just cooking in every area. Everybody knows their role and everybody is playing it well. We are clicking, doing good.”
Question: Did you enjoy being a high-profile recruit and all the attention that went with it once you were on Kentucky’s list?
Miller: “I am not scared to talk in front of cameras, so it never made me nervous. It was never a big deal, but I did love the recruiting process. For a kid like me, I never get those opportunities.”
Question: Do you still have a chance to talk to Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist?
Miller: “I still talk to Anthony Davis all the time and Gilchrist sometimes. I talked to Gilchrist about two weeks ago to wish him good luck and keep doing what he’s been doing. I like them both lot.”
Question: If both teams win, will be there some text messages and maybe a little playful trash talking?
Miller: “Me and Anthony Davis are always talking to each other. Me and Gilchrist always talking junk to each other, so that would be fun. Gilchrist likes that a little more than Anthony Davis.”
