Man jailed after two pursuits in Clark County

March 27, 2012|By Fred Petke

It took an hour and a half, but Winchester Police detectives found the man who led them on a high speed chase Tuesday morning in a stolen car.

Detectives spotted the stolen Dodge Neon around 10 a.m. today on Rockwell Road, Winchester Police Detective Dennis Briscoe. When they turned to follow the car, the driver sped off and entered westbound Interstate 64. Detectives followed the car at triple-digit speeds to the Bluegrass Station exit. Detectives followed the car into Bourbon County, where they terminated the pursuit for safety reasons, he said.

Officers, though, knew who the driver was and were going to obtain warrants for his arrest, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. The department started receiving information that the driver, identified as Michael Osborne of Slade, would be coming back through southern Clark County. Briscoe said they began patrolling and spotted the car on Two Mile Road. After a short pursuit, Osborne stopped and surrendered.

No one else was in the car, and no other vehicles were damaged during the pursuits, Briscoe said.

Charges have not been finalized but Briscoe said Osborne would be facing charges from the pursuit as well as other theft cases. Officers also found a stolen check and a stolen credit card in the car following the pursuit.
