The Blue Grass Army Depot, located between Richmond and Berea, is hosting its first Wounded Warrior Turkey Hunt March 29 through April 1.

Wounded Warriors from Fort Campbell and Fort Knox have been invited to attend to practice and rebuild their hunting skills and to participate in the turkey hunt, March 31, from sunrise to 3 p.m., according to depot officials.

“Blue Grass Army Depot has a healthy population of wild turkeys and is proud to offer this opportunity to our wounded warriors,” BGAD land manager Nathan White said.

Volunteers from the Madison County chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will serve as turkey callers for the event.

The soldiers will be able to get in some shotgun practice prior to the turkey shoot from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday, March 30 at Blue Grass Army Depot’s newly renovated Himes Shooting Range.
