Revival

Gethsemane Baptist Church — Sunday through Wednesday, the church will have  spring revival services.  Stan Coffey will speak  on the second coming of Christ. Coffey is pastor of The Church at Quail Creek in Amarillo, Texas.  

Service times are 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Music will be lead by Insco Sonny Rue and music will be provided by Jim Sheldon.

Special services

First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets — 7 p.m. April 6, The Seven Last Sayings of Christ will be presented. Everyone is welcome.

Hwy. 78 Full Gospel Deliverance Church, Hustonville — 7 p.m. April 7, Nelson Reynolds and his  puppet ministry will be guests.

7 p.m. nightly, April 12-14, guest speaker will be Bro. David Zornes from Middletown, Ohio.

Giveaways

Burgin Christian Church — 8-10 a.m. Saturday, the church will have its “Last Saturday Sharing” and will provide a free, hot breakfast, free flea market and a free bag of groceries. The church is at 300 W. Main St., Burgin.

Salvisa Christian Church — 2-6 p.m. Monday, the church will sponsor a community free clothes day. Everything is free and all sizes are available.

Holy Week services

Salvisa Christian Church — 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the church at 155 Sugar Street, will celebrate Maundy Thursday with a Tenebrae (Candlelight) worship service including the Lord's Supper. For more information, call the Rev. Vicki Ray at (502) 229-0515.

Salvisa Community Easter Sunrise Service — 6:30 p.m. April 8 at Salvisa United Methodist Church, 305 Main St. The Rev. Vicki Ray of Salvisa Christian Church, will speak. For more information, call  Gil Duffee at (859) 865-2244 or the Rev. Vicki Ray at (502) 229-0515.

Trinity Episcopal Church — 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Palm Sunday, Holy Eucharist Rite II: Worship will begin at the front of the doors of the church on Main Street, then proceed into the church as members remember Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. Worship will end with a reading of Jesus' passion from The Gospel according to Mark.

Noon Wednesday, Holy Eucharist Rite II: Regular, weekly service of Eucharist with healing prayers and remembering the many times Jesus offered healing throughout his ministry.

6:30 p.m. Thursday: Maundy Thursday, Holy Eucharist Rite II: Members will remember Jesus' last meal with his disciples. Worship includes a foot washing where worshipers can receive the washing of feet by the altar party or wash one another’s feet; and Holy Communion. The worship will end with the stripping of the altar as a reminder of Jesus' arrest the night before he died.

Noon-6 p.m. April 6, Good Friday: The members will honor Jesus' death on the cross with prayer. Following this service (around 1 p.m.), devotion of the Stations of the Cross and the church will remain open for prayer. At 6 p.m., Stations of the Cross again before closing the church.

8 p.m. April 7, The Great Vigil of Easter, Holy Eucharist Rite II: Recalls the ancient practice of worship on Easter Eve. For the early church, this was a time to share biblical stories of God's work of salvation, baptize new members and celebrate their first Holy Communion of the church year. Worship includes lighting the new fire, a representation of Christ's light in the world; renew the Baptismal Covenant and share Holy Communion.

9:30 a.m. April 8, Easter Sunday, Holy Eucharist Rite II: Allelulia! Christ is Risen! Everyone is welcome to join the congregation to celebrate Christ's resurrection.

St. Peter AME Church — The Mercer County Ministerial Association will sponsor Holy Week Services Monday through Friday at the church, 225 W. Lexington St., beginning at noon with a light lunch at 12:30 p.m.  The schedule:

Tuesday:¿Sermon and worship leaders are Vicki Ray of Salvisa Christian Church and Dave Carr of Harrodsburg Christian Church

Wednesday:¿Sermon by Noel Zamora of St. Andrews Catholic Church; worship leader is  Louise Spencer of St. Peter AME Church

Thursday: Sermon and worship leader is Matthew Robbins of Southside Christian Church

Friday: Sermon by James Harley of Mercer County Baptist Association; worship leader is James Byrd of New Providence Presbyterian Church
