The George Rogers Clark baseball team opened the 40th District portion of the schedule with a 4-1 loss to Bourbon County Monday afternoon in Paris.
The Cardinals (0-6) collected five hits off Colonels ace Chase Mullins, but committed three errors in the contest.
Pokey Harris paced Clark's offense with a pair of singles and Brent Stoneking also added a pair of singles. Dustin Bonner added a single to round out the Cards' showing at the plate.
Clark scored its lone run in the first inning, but was held scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Colonels tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first and tallied two runs in the fifth and tacked on one more run in the sixth frame for the final margin.
Clark starter Derek McKenzie went the distance and scattered four hits, struck out three and walked just three batters. Two of those four runs Bourbon scored were earned.
Mullins fanned 13 batters, allowed five hits and issued six walks.
