East Jessamine soccer and track star Danielle Lee still has all of track season ahead of her, but she’s made her college decision official by signing with Lindsey Wilson College. She will play soccer and run track.

Lee said she was drawn in by the level of play at Lindsey Wilson as well as some of the international flair on the team.

“It was the right fit, and I felt really at home,” Lee said. “I’ve been playing soccer ever since I was 4, so it’s where my heart is at.”

During her senior year at East Jessamine, Lee was second on the team in scoring with 19 goals. She also had six assists.

“She’s undoubtedly the fastest player that I’ve ever had,” East soccer coach DeAngelo Wiser said. “She leaves a big hole for us, but we wish her the best.”

Lee said Wiser has helped her grow as a player and taught her when and how to use her speed to her advantage.

Lindsey Wilson is a national power in women’s soccer. The Blue Raiders went 19-1-2 in 2011 on their way to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National championships.

“We are very excited to have (Lee) join our Lindsey Wilson family,” coach Drew Bruwash  said. “(Her) best days of soccer are ahead of her.”

She has also been a standout athlete on the track. Last year at state, Lee placed 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.9 seconds. She placed eighth in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.

Lee is planning on studying genetics or social work.
