Deputies seek Joseph Clower in connection with assault

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man they say ran away Wednesday after allegedly assaulting and shooting at his wife inside their home.

Deputies are searching for 41-year-old Joseph Dewayne Clower, who they say broke into the home located at 1363 Old Ruckerville Road, attacked, then shot at, his wife, Melissa Clower, according to Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr.

Joseph Clower moved out of the house a couple of days earlier, but returned Wednesday morning, Perdue said.

“Melissa Clower called and said that when she refused to let Joseph Clower in, he kicked the door down, assaulted and shot at her. She finally got away and left the house and called us,” Perdue said.

The woman told deputies that after she left the residence, she heard another shot and thought Joseph Clower might have shot himself.

When deputies arrived at the house, Perdue said, there was evidence of forced entry, but no one was inside.

“From what she told us, we thought when we got there that we might find him shot inside the house, but there was no one there when we entered,” Perdue said. “The door was broken in, and we did recover one spent round in the kitchen counter.”

Deputies found Joseph Clower’s pickup truck a short time later hidden in a thicket down the road, but he was not inside.

A Montgomery County Sheriff’s K-9 unit was called in to assist in the search for Joseph Clower, Perdue said, but he was not located.

Warrants have been issued for Joseph Clower for attempted murder and burglary, Perdue said, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with any information concerning Joseph Clower’s whereabouts is asked to call the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 744-7390.
