Dorothy Mae Blankenship, 88, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, Fla.
Dorothy was born in Danville, Ky., and moved to the Leesburg area in 1988 from Lancaster, Ky. She took great pride in the fact that she was able to serve her country during World War II as a Yeoman 2nd Class in the Navy. She was a retired accountant and retired from Christian Appalachian Project. She will be remembered as a person who loved to be active. She enjoyed boating, bowling and golf and most of all, she enjoyed taking cruises.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Blankenship Jr., and a sister, Imogene Tredo.
Survivors include three daughters, Dianne Travillian of Louisville; Debra Travillian of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Toni Fowler of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Georgianna, Jeremy, Candace, Brandon and Stephania; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Bella Gordon of Danville, Ky.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Chaplain Gary Story officiating.
