A motorcycle driver from Lincoln County was pronounced dead after sustaining severe injures in an accident 7:30 Friday morning on U.S. 27 on Commerce Drive.

Morris Dwane White, 42, of Stanford died in the motorcycle-versus-truck collision that occurred in front of the Car Town Kia USA.

Police investigation states that White was headed northbound on U.S. 27 toward Lexington when a southbound Toyota pickup turned left onto Commerce Drive in front of him.

The collision ejected White over the truck. White was transported to the University of Kentucky's Chandler Medical Center, where he died from injuries.

The driver of the truck was "shaken" but not transported. Nicholasville firefighters and police accident reconstruction units were on the scene of the wreck and held up traffic in northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 27 for several hours.

At the time, traffic was backed up from Kohl's Drive to the intersection of Main Street and commuters headed to Lexington were diverted onto Catnip Hill Road to U.S. 68.
