West Jessamine boys’ soccer defender Harold Brabon has made his college choice. He will attend Asbury University next fall.

Brabon signed with the Eagles on April 13 at a special signing event at the Luce Center on Asbury’s campus.

“I really wanted to be somewhere close to home and really enjoyed going to Asbury through Asbury Academy this past semester,” Brabon said. Asbury Academy is a program in which high-school seniors from Jessamine County take classes at Asbury for free.

Asbury’s soccer program is already stacked with talent from Jessamine County. Last year’s team that went 14-6-2 had 10 players from the county, nine of whom came from West Jessamine.

“That’ll be great, already having built-in team chemistry by the time I get there,” Brabon said.

Brabon will also be reunited with former West head coach Nathan Andrews, who is now an assistant at Asbury.

“I’ve received really great coaching through Ben Andrews and Nate Andrews and this past season with Brock Sutherland,” he said. “They’re great coaches and have pushed me to excel and play harder.”
