Cates graduates WKU

Adrienne Cates will graduate cum laude from Western Kentucky University on May 12 in E.A. Diddle Arena at 2 p.m., receiving a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing education. 

Cates is in the Honors Program and is a graduating Senior of the Episcopal College Fellowship at Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green. 

She is the daughter of Diane Kennedy, Winchester, and Richard Allen Cates, Asheville, N.C.

After graduation, Cates will attend the University of Kentucky to pursue a Master’s of Business Administration.

Montgomery honered by BCTC

Phillip Montgomery of Winchester was recently selected as a Bluegrass Community and Technical College Outstanding Program Graduate for the Business Management and Marketing program.

Faculty members select one student from each of  BCTC’s 33 programs as Outstanding Program Graduate.

The distinction recognizes students who have exhibited strong leadership, exceeded criteria and expectations in their degree programs and demonstrated academic excellence. The students were honored during BCTC’s commencement ceremony May 6 at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Newman receives EKU scholarship

Kelsey Newman of Winchester received the Charles T. “Turkey” Hughes Memorial Scholarship during the Eastern Kentucky University Department of Exercise and Sport Science honor awards day April 27.

Houchins named Transy Term Scholar

Sophomore Kristina Houchins was named a Transylvania University August Term Scholar for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Term Scholars will serve as role models and mentors to first-year students while working with faculty members during the three week August term  and the fall term. Houchins, a psychology major, is the daughter of Patricia Houchins of Winchester.
