Jessamine County’s Serenity Hill Fiber and Living History Farm is one of the 106 markets across the Commonwealth recently accepted into the 2012 Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program.
In joining the Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program, Serenity Hill Fiber and Living History Farm has committed to offering quality products and service to its customers. Its acceptance by Farm Bureau tells customers that Serenity Hill Fiber and Living History Farm meets the highest standards of quality, freshness, and marketing appeal.
Serenity Hill Fiber and Living History Farm is a working sheep farm with an 1820s log-cabin studio and gift shop that is open year round on Beverly Lane in Nicholasville. The market carries a variety of Kentucky Proud products, including local honey, jellies and fiber. At the farm visitors get a chance to see a working farm in action with sheep-shearing and other activities.
“The Certified Roadside Farm Market Program was established to help our farmers generate local interest in the wide array of products they produce on the family farm,” said Mark Haney, president of Kentucky Farm Bureau. “Along with promotional efforts designed to attract consumers, the program also partners with farm market owners to educate the public about the importance of locally grown and produced products.”
