Donna Allen Miller, 72, of Winchester, died peacefully at her home May 17, 2012.


Donna was born April 23, 1940, in Jeffersontown, Ky. She lived in Winchester most of her life.
She established a home accessory shop “It’s A Keeper” in downtown Winchester in 1991, which she operated until her retirement in 2003. 


She worked as social editor of the Winchester Sun, served as executive assistant of the Winchester Chamber of Commerce and director of High Hope Steeple Chase. 


She was preceded in death by her parents James Bradley Allen and Emory Dale Inman Allen. 
She is survived by her spouse of 25 years George Bruce Taylor Miller and six children; Annie (D.J.) Gabbard, John (Janis) Allen and Nancy (Fielding) Turner all of Winchester, Taylor Miller, Richard Miller of Lexington and Melissa (Alex Garcia) Miller of Spain and four grandchildren; Zackary Bybee Allen, Justin Thomas Allen, Andrew Kader Allen and Henry Allen Turner all of Winchester.

She is survived by two sisters; Penny Allen and Jane (Ruge) DeVan of Lexington, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and close family friend Kathy Lawson.


Mrs. Miller graduated from Winchester High School and attended Hollins College and Transylvania University. 


She was a member of the Fortnightly Club, the Winchester Country Club and former member of the Iroquois Hunt Club. 


She was an avid reader, enjoyed travel, entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. 
She was a long time attendee of the First Christian Church in Winchester.


Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, at the First Christian Church, 24 E. Hickman St., Winchester, from 5-7 p.m.


Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church with the Rev. Jerry Johns officiating. 
The commitment will follow at the Winchester Cemetery.  


In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Dr., Winchester.
Pallbearers are John Allen, Zackary Allen, D.J. Gabbard, Richard Miller, Taylor Miller, Fielding Turner and Alex Garcia Franks. 


Honorary pallbearers are William Buckner, Doyle Stone, Charles Hougland, Warren Roberts, William Tye and Jim Lynch.
