William Arnold DeBord

William Arnold DeBord, 69, of Stanford, Ky., husband of Helen, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Lincoln, Neb.

Arnold entered into this life on July 8, 1942, in Somerset, Ky., the son of George Benton and Virginia Estella Turner DeBord, both of whom preceded him in death. 

He was united in marriage to Charlotte Sowder on Jan. 2, 1964, and to this union came five children. 

Arnold bravely served his country as a soldier in the United States Army, rising to the rank of SPC5 and he retired from Bosch-Rexroth as a production scheduler after 42 years of dedicated service. 

He attended New Hope Church of God, he was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the North American Hunting Club. Arnold will be remembered for enjoying fishing, hunting and gardening, for being an avid U.K. fan and for his love of spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Arnold will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen Fletcher DeBord of Stanford; five children: Tami (Curt) Bargen of Omaha, Neb., Bill (Merideth) DeBord of Lancaster, Ky., James “Jamie” (Twyla) DeBord  of Stanford, Stephanie (Mike) Whitenack of Owenton, Ky., and George Benton (Betsy) DeBord of Stanford; two stepdaughters, Michell (Joe) Caudill of McKinney, Ky., and Dawn Smith of Danville, Ky.; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Overbay of Brodhead, Ky., and Wanda (Elmer) Johnson  of Mitchellsburg, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Sowder DeBord; a sister, Irene Benge; and two brothers, Winfred DeBord, and infant, Harold DeBord.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Donald Lear officiating. Interment will follow at tDeBord Cemetery. Casketbearers will be grandsons, Bill DeBord Jr., J.T. DeBord Jr., Steven DeBord, Eddie Froste, Matthew DeBord and Jack DeBord.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
