William Arnold DeBord, 69, of Stanford, passed away Thursday, May 17, at the Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Born July 8, 1942, in Somerset, Arnold was a son of the late George Benton and Virginia Estella Turner DeBord. He served in the United States Army, rising to the rank of SPC5 and was retired from Bosch-Rexroth as a production scheduler, after 42 years of dedicated service. He attended New Hope Church of God and was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the North American Hunting Club. Arnold enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, was an avid University of Kentucky fan and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Sowder DeBord, who he married on Jan. 2, 1964; one sister, Irene Benge; and two brothers, Winfred DeBord and infant, Harold DeBord.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Fletcher DeBord of Stanford; five children, Tami (Curt) Bargen of Omaha, Neb., Bill (Merideth) DeBord of Lancaster, James “Jamie” (Twyla) DeBord of Stanford, Stephanie (Mike) Whitenack of Owenton and George Benton (Betsy) DeBord of Stanford; two step daughters: Michell (Joe) Caudill and of McKinney and Dawn Smith of Danville; two sisters, Bonnie Overbay of Brodhead and Wanda (Elmer) Johnson of Mitchelsburg; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
