Charles R. Gatson, 2 Ratliff Court, a recent graduate of the Kentucky School of Embalming, Louisville, has accepted a position with the Scobee Funeral Home. Gatson attended public schools here and was graduated from Greenbrier Military School, Lewisburg, W.Va. He is a native of Clark County, and the grandson of Grant R. and Susie Bush Gatson. He served three years with the U.S. Army.
The telephone company today announced the establishment of a new time-temperature service under the sponsorship of the Winchester Bank. The hour and minute of the day or night will be provided the public by dialing a special number — 744-5100 — and waiting for the brief recorded answer.
A 700-seat auditorium was added to the plans for the new George Rogers Clark High School at Friday night’s Clark County Board of Education meeting, pushing the cost of the countywide high school in the neighborhood of $2,000,000. The school building itself, with auditorium $131,000, is to cost a total of $1,823,253 under contract to Eubank and Steele of Lexington. An investment of $80,000 in a site and architectural and engineering fees are expected to boost the total to near $2,000,000.
