Heart of Danville's Lawn Chair Theater returns

May 26, 2012

It is once again that time of year — time for the Lawn Chair Theater.

The Heart of Danville Main Street Program once again will host the Lawn Chair Summer movie series. Set to begin this year June 22 and continuing through Aug. 10, the HOD will show movies in Constitution Square on Friday nights beginning at dusk. The movies are open and free to the public, with concessions available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit downtown revitalization and beautification.

Here is the 2012 line-up:

June 22: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (Rated PG-13)  — in honor of the Heart’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.  The film was released the same year (1986) that HOD began. There will be free popcorn that night for all movie-goers.

June 29: “Despicable Me” (Rated PG)

July 13: “Field of Dreams,” (Rated PG) sponsored by Farmers National Bank.

July 20: “A Dolphin Tale” (Rated PG)

July 27: “Super 8” (Rated PG-13)

Aug 3: “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (Rated PG-13)

Aug 10: “Hugo” (Rated PG)

There will not be a movie during the week of July 4 in observance of the holiday. The HOD invites movie-goers to enjoy this free service provided for Danville residents and visitors.

If anyone would like to volunteer to help set up/take down movie equipment and/or assist with the concession stand, contact HOD at (859) 236-1909 or info@downtowndanville.com.

Businesses interested in sponsoring or advertising during a film also can contact the HOD.
