Paul Edwin Bowling, 90, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.
He was the son of the late Abraham and Myrtle Gabbard Bowling. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, and was raised in Booneville, Owsley County, Ky., he had lived in Boyle County since 1954. He was a barber since living in Boyle County and retired in 1974, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Danville. He was a decorated World War II veteran of theU.S. Army, having served with the First Cavalry in the Philippines.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mamie Vina Cochran Bowling; three sons, Paul M. (Sharon) Bowling, Larry Joe (Gail) Bowling and Freddie W. (Janice) Bowling; four grandchildren, Michael (Linda) Bowling, Mathew (Becky) Bowling, Mark (Melanie) Bowling and Mackenzie (Jamie) Long; and five great-grandchildren, Keely, Easton, Mason and Reece Bowling and Bryson Long. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jay Allen Bowling and Megan M. Bowling.
