Davidson named new Clark Homeless Coalition director

June 01, 2012|By Bob Flynn | The Winchester Sun

The Clark County Homeless Coalition board of directors didn’t have far to look in its search for a new executive director.

Terry Davidson, a founding member of the coalition and president of the board since its inception in 2010, was selected to replace Karen Cinnamond, who resigned earlier in May.

New board president Teresa Hoskins said Davidson is a natural fit for the position.

“Terry brings more than just experience to our organization, she brings a passion to do God’s work,” Hoskins said.

“She was the founder of the coalition and president and she has spent countless hours in developing and implementing the work of the CCHC, and her work and dedication have been key factors in its success.”

As director, Davidson will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the homeless shelter and helping the organization achieve its goals and furthering the organization, Hoskins said.

Davidson has been serving in the position for two weeks, but said it was not something she ever envisioned herself doing.

“I never had any intentions of doing this, but God has a way of shoving you into the place he wants you to be,” Davidson said. “I had a lot of reservations about taking the position but the board didn’t, so I agreed to take it for a while and see how I liked it. I’m in my third week now and it’s been really good. I’m starting to hit my stride.”

The coalition had begun to shift from its original focus, Davidson said, so her goal as director is to bring that focus back to the organization.

“This organization and this shelter came out of God’s will,” Davidson said. “We can’t ignore that and take him out of it. We’ve got to keep him at the center of our focus to make this become everything we envisioned for it in the beginning.”
