Danville police are looking for the unidentified driver who flipped a vehicle over near First Baptist Church on U.S. 127 Saturday night.
At about 8:10 p.m. Saturday, an unidentified Hispanic man was driving a white 2000 Plymouth Neon northbound on the overpass, said Danville Police Chief Tony Gray. A witness traveling southbound on U.S. 127 said the Neon started weaving and came through the median into southbound driving lanes.
“The car jerked violently, overturning onto its roof,” Gray said.
The driver and his passenger, also a Hispanic man, fled the scene on foot.
The Neon is registered to a Josue L. Chable of Lancaster, according to Gray. As of Monday, officers had not been able to get in touch with Chable.
Because it was a single-vehicle wreck, the only criminal charges expected against the two men would be leaving the scene of an accident, Gray said. If the men had outstanding warrants or were in the country illegally, additional charges would be filed.
