STANFORD — A Waynesburg woman and a 3-year-old were injured Friday in a one-vehicle accident along U.S. 27.

Tia Caldwell, 24, was northbound in a 2003 Ford Taurus about 6 miles south of Stanford when she became distracted and her vehicle veered onto the northbound shoulder, according to information from state police.

Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger assisted in directing traffic while one lane was shut down for ambulance access. Folger said Caldwell's vehicle went up an embankment and struck some trees.

Caldwell suffered neck and arm injuries; the 3-year-old suffered a minor head injury, according to state police.

Both people were taken to Fort Logan hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Taurus was damaged severely and had to be towed from the scene by Skytower Automotive, state police said.
