The spokesman for the Danville-Boyle County Economic Development Partnership will be leaving his job at the end of the month.

Charlie Cox has served as the marketing and communication coordinator for the EDP and the Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau since January 2010. He has accepted a teaching and assistant football coaching job at West Jessamine High School.

His last day will be June 30.

“I greatly appreciate Charlie’s hard work under the challenging circumstances of helping to create this first-time, centralized position that serves all the partners. He has laid a good foundation upon which we can build,” Jody Lassiter, president and CEO of the EDP, said in an email.

Following staff changes at the CVB and plans to relocate EDP partner offices to Constitution Square, Lassiter said the communications coordinator will be administratively housed within the EDP’s central office, but will still serve the marketing and communications needs of all five partner organizations. Lassiter said he hoped to have the position filled on or after July 1 and there already had been inquiries.

A graduate of Boyle County High School and Western Kentucky University, Cox was involved with a number of projects, including the Danville Lawn Chair Film Festival, during his time in the job.

Cox credited former Convention and Visitor’s Bureau director Adam Johnson for giving him the time to pursue his teaching degree and certification, but also with allowing him to coach football for Boyle County Middle School, a role that helped confirm his desire to enter the classroom.
