HARRODSBURG — The child killed over the weekend in a horseback riding accident in Mercer County has been identified as 5-year-old Caden Moon, son of Jeffrey and Amanda Moon of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Home with visitation from 5-8 p.m. today.
The accident occurred Sunday at The Eagles Nest. The boy was taken to James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from head trauma at 7:37 p.m. Sunday.
Mercer County Deputy Sheriff Matt Swabey said the child was riding a horse that was being led as part of a family group when he fell off the horse. The horse stumbled, fell and rolled over the child.
Carol Conover, who co-owns The Eagles Nest with her husband, Michael, said this is the first tragedy there.
