Harrodsburg man arrested on assault charge

HARRODSBURG — A Harrodsburg man was arrested Sunday on an assault charge after he allegedly cut another man’s face by striking him with a beer bottle.

Anthony M. “Pig” Stigall, 32, was picked up on an outstanding warrant when police responded to a report of a disturbance on East Factory Street on Sunday and found Stigall there. Stigall was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center on a charge of second-degree assault.

According to police, Stigall got into a fight with Jamin Blacketer near Old Fort Harrod State Park May 26 and struck him in the face with a bottle. Blacketer was taken to Haggin Hospital for treatment of multiple cuts to his face, police said.

A warrant was issued based on a criminal complaint filed by Blacketer. Harrodsburg Officer Anthony Wesley made the arrest.

Police investigate animal cruelty case

HARRODSBURG — Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty after a pet rabbit was found beaten to death.

According to a police report, officers went to 787 Stoner St. June 3 to speak with Jimmy Robinson, whose rabbit had been taken from its cage and killed. Robinson told police he had told many children to leave the rabbit alone after they tried to feed hazardous materials to the pet on several occasions.

Semi-truck collision shuts down part of Danville bypass

A man was injured and part of the Danville bypass shut down early this morning by a car accident involving a semi-truck, police said.

Ty Cook, 22, of Campbellsville, was driving southbound on the Danville bypass at about 6 a.m., according to Danville police. Cook failed to stop his 1990 Hyundai Tiburon at a red light at the intersection of Perryville Road and crashed into a semi-truck, police said.

The driver of that truck, Kenneth Nance, 49, of Illinois, was not injured in the collision. Cook was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center; as of press time, police did not know the extent of his injuries.

The intersection was closed for about 90 minutes while police, Danville City Fire Department and Boyle County EMS cleared the scene.
