STANFORD — Charles Regis Bender, 71, of Hustonville, Ky., formerly of Baltimore, Md., went to meet his Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 12, 2012. 

Son of the late Regis and Virginia Bender, he was born Aug. 8, 1940, was an Army veteran, and was retired from Northfolk and Southern Railroad. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. 

He was a loving father and grandfather and his family will truly miss him.

He is survived by three daughters: Sherry (David) Noss of Clarksburg, W.Va., Lori (Ron) Pike of Danville, and Lana (Clay) Campbell of Junction City; two sons, Charles G. Bender of Hustonville, and Eric (Jennifer) Bender of Liberty; 14 grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsey) Francois, Kara (Jordan) Gillespie, Matthew Noss, Shay Noss, Jacob Pike, Seth Frazier, Ty Noss, Chance Bender, Jenna Bender, Connor Bender, Chezni Campbell, Kaylee Wray Bender, Derek Sallee and Jana Wilson; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Spurlin Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Mullins officiating.

Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. 

Caswell Saufley Post 18 American Legion will present military honors.

Casketbearers will be Ryan Francois, Matthew Noss, Shay Noss, Jacob Pike, Seth Frazier, Ty Noss and Chance Bender. 

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. 

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Stroke Association, 3900 Shelbyville Rd., Suite 7, Louisville, KY 40207.
