Three teenagers were arrested early this morning after allegedly robbing Bluegrass Truck Stop at gunpoint, Danville police said.

Kenneth M. Williams, 18, of Harrodsburg; Raymarcause L. Simon, 18, of Danville; and a 17-year-old boy allegedly robbed the Stewarts Lane truck stop about 1:40 a.m., police said. All three teens allegedly brandished handguns, took an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene in a black sport-utility vehicle, police said. Shortly afterward, Boyle County Deputy Sheriff Dustin Clem found the vehicle wrecked near the scene of the robbery and arrested the trio.

Williams and Simon were charged with first-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. As of today, Simon was being held without bond in the Boyle County Detention Center. As of press time, a decision was pending about whether Williams could be released on bond.

The 17-year-old was charged with first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence. Because of his age, officials did not release further details about his arrest.

A manager who answered the telephone at Bluegrass Truck Stop this morning declined comment.

Danville Assistant Police Chief Tom Bustle said the truck stop has been robbed several times in recent months, but none of the crimes seems connected. He credited Clem for quickly apprehending the teens allegedly responsible for today’s robbery.

Bluegrass Truck Stop was last robbed in March. That robbery was also at gunpoint, according to police. Jonathan Tyler, 26, of Danville, is incarcerated in the Boyle County Detention Center awaiting trial on a first-degree robbery charge.
