Local police officers and federal marshals found 3 pounds of marijuana in a Danville apartment Tuesday and arrested a 24-year-old woman in connection with the case.
At 3 p.m. Tuesday, U.S. Marshals and Danville officers went to an apartment at 410 Earl St. to arrest Aurelia D. Quarels on several active Kentucky and Indiana warrants. They knocked on the door several times and Quarels allegedly refused to answer, so they broke open the door.
Once inside, authorities arrested Quarels and found at least 3 pounds of marijuana, a .45-caliber pistol and drug paraphernalia. Quarels was in the bathroom trying to destroy the marijuana, Danville Assistant Police Chief Tom Bustle said.
As of this morning, Quarels was being held in the Boyle County Detention Center on a $16,000 cash bond.
She is charged with second offense trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
