Danville and Boyle County take great pride in how beautiful our area is. Much of this beauty and charm comes from beautifully maintained homes and their lovely landscaping, which brings me to my point. The way Danville bills those of us who live in town for water and use of the sewage system places a high penalty on property owners who must use water to keep their properties beautiful in the summer. In a drought year, the inequity is more pronounced.
A large percentage of our local water bill goes to the processing of sewage. I certainly do not begrudge the cost of what I send into the sewage system, but I do begrudge paying sewage costs on what I use to water my vegetable garden and perennials.
Kentucky Utilities has no trouble telling consumers what the average cost per month actually is.
I think the water company should rate consumers on what we use, on the average for the winter months; and then charge only for water (and not sewage) for the extra water used for the summer months.
