All youth ages 9 to 18 may enter any project in the catalog in Cloverville. If you are not currently a member of 4-H, we can enroll you on the spot when you enter your projects. Youth ages 6 to 8 also may enter projects but are not eligible for all prizes and awards.
Our livestock shows start at 10 a.m. July 25 with hog and sheep shows. Goats will follow that evening at 6 p.m. The beef show will begin at 6 p.m. July 26.
There will be livestock judging and round robin showmanship contests during each show open to all Boyle County youth. A livestock Skillathon contest open to all Boyle County youth will begin at 3 p.m. July 26 at the livestock pavilion.
A rabbit and poultry show will be 10 a.m. July 26 and a poultry wrangling event will be at 5 p.m. at the livestock pavilion, just for fun.
Other events include tractor-driving contests on July 25 at the horse show ring. Any youth, ages 9-18, may compete as 4-H’ers. FFA members also may compete in the FFA division. It’s ladies only in the powder puff division and everyone is eligible to compete in the open division.
A tractor-driving tutorial will begin at 3 p.m., along with registration. The contests will begin at 4 p.m.
A LEGO building tournament begins July 25 with registration at 9:30 a.m. Youth can compete in three different contests: microbuilds, places to be and ways to go. Each contest will have three divisions: 8 years old and younger, 9, 11 and 12 and older. There is no fee to compete and you don’t need to bring LEGOs. All your building materials will be supplied.
A cornhole tournament open to all will begin at 1 p.m. July 26 at the horse ring. Registration will be $10 per team with the winning team taking home $100 and the runners-up, $50.
On the demonstration stage in floral hall, we will have presentations from horticulture specialists on a variety of subjects including heirloom varieties, herb gardening, composting and small space gardening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 26. Raptor Rehab will be visiting with birds of prey for a demonstration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25.
You can see there will be plenty to do and see at Boyle County Fair Ag Days, July 25 and 26, at the fairgrounds. Admission is $2 per person, and concessions will be available on the grounds along with pony rides, face painting and other fun things for kids.
