SATURDAY
— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
— The Wilmore Farmers Market is now open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m. or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.
— The Stonebridge summer Saturday-night concert series will feature Bill Hall and Copperstone. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Local food vendors will be on hand to sell their fare. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the local food pantry or pet food for the county’s new animal shelter.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host “Waggin’ Tales” from 1-3 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a trip to the Cincinnati riverboat cruise Saturday, July 21. The bus leaves at 2 p.m.
SUNDAY
— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— Perkins Chapel AME Church will celebrate its 133rd anniversary July 22. The church’s former pastor, Jeffrey Washington, will preach during the 3:30 p.m. service. The Cedar Top Baptist Church choir will also perform during the service. For more information, call 859-858-4475.
— Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, located at 100 S. Lexington Ave., in Wilmore, will host is Vacation Bible School July 22-27 from 6-8:30 p.m. each night for children who have completed K through the fifth grade. MONDAY
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. TUESDAY
