Bertha Williams Vanhook, 86

Bertha Williams Vanhook, 86, of Hustonville, died Tuesday, July 10, in Lexington. 

Born Feb. 19, 1926, in Lincoln County, Bertha was a daughter of the late Arid and Bessie Williams. She was a housewife, a member of the Green River Pentecostal Church and the widow of W.O. "Bill" Vanhook.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Darryl and Billy Vanhook; two sisters, Morene Willis and Luna Walls; and three siblings who died at a very young age.

Survivors include one son, Noel (Tiffany) Vanhook of Indianapolis, Ind.; four daughters, Ellen (Ron) Hunkins of Stanford, Shelia (Huston) Martin of Kings Mountain,  Joan Durham of Cincinnati, Ohio and Leesa Vanhook of Russell Springs; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; a host of great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. 

Funeral services were July 13 at the Green River Pentecostal Church in McKinney with Rev. Rick Naylor officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.

Active pallbearers were Chris, Josh, Jeremy  and Trenton Vanhook, Randall and Heath Alford, Jamie Martin, Chad Durham and Adam Epling. Honorary pallbearers were O.C. and Laura May Robbins and Eva Walls. 

Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the Green River Pentecostal Church (c/o Bill Walls, 116 Cherokee Trail, Stanford, KY 40484). 

Spurlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
